When Wynford student Isaac Hedrick was 8, he was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes.
That was in 2010. Today, the sixth-grader is putting together presentations and making videos about the disease to raise awareness.
?I want people to understand what it is and what it?s like to have it,? Isaac said.
His mother, Lisa Hedrick, said her son showed signs of diabetes such as excessive urination, night-time urination and excessive thirst.
?I am a nurse so I recognized these symptoms and took him to his doctor. I had him fast so they could do blood work. His blood sugar was in the 200s after fasting for 12 hours,?
