WEST Berkshire Council is supporting the national Stoptober initiative aimed at getting smokers to ditch the weed.
Last year the event helped 160,000 nationally achieve a smoke-free October and studies show a person who quits for 28 days is five times more likely to stop for good.
The chairman of West Berkshire?s Heath and Wellbeing Board, Graham Jones (Con, Lambourn), said: ?Stoptober is a great initiative to give up smoking. Smokers receive excellent support and know that thousands of people across the country are backing them in their efforts.
