I'm really getting to the point of flipping out with the medical team in charge of my care. I know we are in a pandemic and things are tough but they aren't listening...
I'm on levemir twice daily and humalog X3. I've been told after tests the digestive part of my pancreas isn't working at all so and taking a heap of Creon now too. Aaaaand been left really at that. I'm suffering with acute pain in my upper belly after eating which I've just been thrown a bottle of gaviscon. My humalog ratio is ridiculous at 3 units per 10g carbs to bring it down even below 20. I feel awful and noone seems to want to know. What do I do?

The DUK helpline 0345 123 2399*, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm may also be able to help.

Sorry to hear how difficult you are finding things @Tattoogirl

If you are taking Creon because of damage to your pancreas that suggests you are Type 3c rather than Type 2. For type 3c queries I usually defer to @eggyg who has a lot of experience (not least with wrestling with medics who don’t always understand it or know much about it!).

I escort the idea of calling the helpline too for additional support.

Hope you can reduce your high levels soon. They must be making you feel pretty grim :( Keep drinking lots of water. have you got a method of checking for Ketones? May be worth getting some urine strips from a chemist (about £5 a pot of 50) if nothing else.

Keep us posted with how you are getting on.

Thanks for the replys. I will give the helpline a call. And yes, feeling pretty rough. Back to three times a night toilet visits and soooo tired.

Hi @Tattoogirl. Type 3c is a pain in the backside ( literally at times). Have you ever had pancreatitis? If they’re saying you’re not producing digestive enzymes it must mean your pancreas is damaged in some way. Which side is the pain? If left it could be your pancreas playing up. Chucking Gaviscon at it may not be a good idea as that will bung you up and could cause pain. How many Creon are you taking at the moment? Creon can raise your BGs. If you’re not doing it already eat little and often, overloading your system won’t help. I’ve had 13 years with only a teeny tiny bit of pancreas and that bit is dead now. I still don’t get it right with my diet, I can go days where I’m never off the loo then days when I can’t go. Overly fatty food is my nemesis, oils, cream, Mayo etc. Might a food diary help to get some idea of what’s causing the pain? I don’t suffer from pancreatitis anymore since it was removed but what did help when I did, although at the time I didn’t know that’s what I had, was to lie flat on my stomach. I hope that helps for the moment but you really need more help from HCPs, do your research and go armed with that on your next visit. Good luck. Elaine

Thanks Elaine for the reply. I'm on 4 x 25000 Creon at main meals and 2 after large snacks. Lying on my stomach does ease it too. Pain is middle to left. After speaking to the helpline today, I've tried to get my gastro appointment rushed through to be told, sorry no appointments as there is no clinic, we are building a new one. Well.... That's helpful! Lol
