Hi all, after reading about the way solostar works i think i understand a bit more. I have been type 1 for 54 years now and find my control is not as good since I started on solostar with nova rapid. For some reason all of a sudden my solostar has gone nuts I am fighting to keep over night sugars below 10, after resorting to 4 morning and 8 night. 6 months ago i was having hypo's using 8 at night and dropped to 6, so why the change in my situation. My eating is still as has always been, i am very confused.

Hi dropit, welcome to the forum 🙂 How long have you been using the solostar? What were you using before? Id recommend the novopen echo for novorapid - I thought solostar was for lantus

sorry got it all wrong, misunderstanding about solostar. I take Lantus using solostar and didnt understand that solostar was the 'pen' as box reads Lantus solostart. I am having trouble with the Lantus insulin. Sorry to have confused.

Hi Dropit

I've split your posts off onto a thread of your own since the one you 'joined' was a bit old 🙂

After a while I struggled a bit to get Lantus to play nicely for me (mostly when I started looking more closely at what was going on). Looking back I think I had used it for years without realising that there is no 'set' dose for basal, and you need to adjust and tweak it throughout the year.

This page gives a great method of testing to see whether your basal insulin (Lantus) is doing it's job properly: http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=120
