Hi Lorna, welcome to the forum 🙂 How awful that you are being subjected to such ignorance and lack of empathy - these people would surely act differently if they were in your position. From what you say, I am presuming that your daughter has a need for insulin, but is also insulin resistant? We have another member here who has had the same problem and she has had her son's insulin changed to animal insulin which appears to be helping, so this may be something you could suggest? The lady's son is also on metformin to help with the insulin resistance.

I hope that the school are made to realise that, despite appearances and 'folk' knowledge, diabetes is a very difficult condition to control, and even more so in some people, accounting for the awful time your daughter has been through.

I do hope that things begin to improve and that your daughter's control improves.

Welcome Lorna. Some schools are unbelievable but just want to meet the targets that have been set for them. Children are just a nuisance really.

Hi Lorna

Welcome to the forum. I hope that you and your daughter find this site helpful, there are quite a few parents on here that have children of a similar age to your daughter. x

Hi Lorna, welcome to the forum.

Hi Lorna and welcome to the forum.

Hello Lorna and welcome to this forum. I really hope you find it a good place for support and advice.

My son is 14, diagnosed with type 1 eighteen months ago, on a pump now.

From what you say, the school needs some education?! It's appalling that you are not able to work through this all together -- you and your daughter need all the support you can get right now.

What's your next step? Is it possible for your DSN folks to go into the school with you and try to set up a different situation? You need a break....

Take care,

Patricia
