Unfortunately I have an infection at the moment so I had to go to see the doctor as a matter of urgency. I saw the senior partner who said he was very impressed with how I am controlling my diabetes and told me not to stress as the readings are high at the moment. He also said do you test regularly? I said not as much as I did at first. He responded by saying I will prescribe one pot of 50 strips per month for your use, This apparently against practice rules but he said that he felt that they will help me to keep control. Success!!! Maybe just keeping cool and not ranting at them has done the trick? I hope others will get this too if they want it. 🙂

Well done - glad you got some strips.

But I have to say, isn't it absolutely fuc...rying-out-loud appalling that a doc thinks he's doing someone with diabetes a massive favour by prescribing just enough test strips so they can test once a day (and maybe a whole TWICE at weekends, wow!)?

Good news for you, but as DeusXM said, it is appaling, every diabetic should be able to see how there doing and controll there b/s otherwise how are you supposed to manage it??????

Great news happydog 🙂 Hopefully, you will be able to use your strips judiciously in testing new foods and situations - once you are happy with familiar meals you shouldn't need to test for them, except maybe as an occasional check that you are still tolerating them as expected. 🙂

Thanks for your replies. Of course I agree that it is not right that we have to "beg" for what we need to help us manage our condition. My practice was so adamant that type 2's don't need to test that I feel this is a change of heart. Unfortunately I think that there are some diabetics who feel that they don't want to make the life changes that are necessary, so they would not be up for testing. It is their right to choose to do this but it does not help those of us who want to be in control. I have learnt so much here, you are all brilliant! 🙂
