Since the end of May, I have started a new job, moved house, and travelled with the family back to Scotland for a wedding. It feels like my feet haven't touched the ground.

Last trip to the doctor, my hbaic was 6.2% and I was thrilled, but since then, I have moved to a different kommune and will have to register with a new doctor.
As you know over the past few days, my fasting level has been higher than normal and I'm putting that down to hormone fluctuations and stress. How will this affect my next hbaic reading which is due around 1st Sept.

Personally, I find whatever I do, exercise, low carbing, etc doesn't seem to make much difference but it's physcosomatic, the more I worry, the worse the reading seems to get!

Feel as if I'm going slightly mad!!

Donna :(

I wouldn't worry unduly about a few days where your levels have been unusually high, it will have little impact on your HbA1c. I would also say that, even if your HbA1c is higher than the last one, you can easily point to the probable causes given all the stressful events in your life in recent months! 🙂

Sorry to hear that you are feeling stressed. Stress plays havoc with my levels I really have to up the insulin to cope - so worry may well be affecting yours.

You have been spinning for a few months and if I remember reduced your metformin all of which could be affecting you. The HbA1C is a measure of how you have been doing over the previous 3 months - so they will affect it but by what amount depends on so many things - how much of the time they are raised, how high they are raised etc.

The main thing is to get yourself registered and see what your latest HbA1c comes out at. Then if its higher than your Dr would like you can look at addressing it. Whatever you do in the next couple of weeks to try and bring it down is unlikely to have much affect on the result.

Out of the top 10 stressfull things to do, you have moved and started a new job.

We all worry and stress over things. Get registered with a doctor and see how things go. Once you are settled your numbers will start to go back to normal again.
