I've just tested my BG 2hrs post-meal. The first result was 11.5. I rarely get readings this high so tested again 10 seconds later...15.6. So then I tested 2 more times after this 30 seconds later...both 9.9. I use a contour next meter currently, and never normally reads with this much variation. Would probably ask for a control solution but switching to FS Optium soon.

Did you wash your hands thoroughly before you tested the second time? Just wondering if you had something on your hands which compromised the reading. 9.9 and 11.5 are within the error range.... but 15.6 is rather high and I would suspect something compromised it. Even a bit of onion juice from chopping onions prepping the meal might be enough to do it. Can happen with a tiny smear of jam from a jam jar or even a jar of chutney...

I'm very careful about my hand hygiene, and there shouldn't have been any comprising to the results. I do normally 'dab' away the first blood drop as I was recommended to do this when first diagnosed. I also tested on the same finger, so kept a level of consistency there as well.

Daniel - there is a good chance the meter is simply on its way out; about to pop its clogs.

Quite possibly. I always tend to check 2/3 times if I get an abnormal result.

I got lulled into a false sense of security for years with a mega reliable meter. In the finish, turned out what it was reliably telling me, were fibs!!

How old is your meter ? Early in the year I contacted my meter company to see if they could tell me how long I had mine as I had registered with them. The sent me a replacement.

It's likely around 2-3yrs old. I do have a replacement meter already, so I may just swap out and see if it will be more accurate.

Mine was still working OK at the time but was begining to feel a bit worn.
