@JMyrtle
I am not getting any strange emails JM but I would strongly advise against clicking on any links in any emails you receive. It is a well known method for scammers and fraudsters to gain access to your pc and your data. They can lead to fake or phishing websites. Opening the email also informs the scammers that your email address is valid and you will get more and more of them. Also another thing worth noting is that if you receive emails from unknown sources with an unsubscribe option, do not click on the "unsubscribe" button. All that happens in 99% of the time is it validates your email and you get more junk and scamming mail.
Always copy the link and paste into your browser to validate if it is genuine. However, the best method is to delete.
If your emails are in broken English it is a sure fire fact that they are scammers and probably from somewhere in Africa (Nigeria or Ghana usually), Russia or South America. Some even proport to to come form the UK and give that indication but that is also usually totally fake.
The dead give away is the broken English.
You can also always click on the sender at the top of the email and it will show the senders email address.
Just my advice.

Thanks Vince
Happily I use a separate email address, tablet and password for forums and such like rather that my "real" laptop that I use for online banking etc.
The sender of these emails calls himself? My (certain part of male anatomy) from a website Viallisis @http but forwards as an alert from this website.
If you click on the link it comes up with Diabetes UK website error post not found.
If you want a good laugh I can forward the email on!

Maybe you accidentally clicked on to one of the spam posters, we get them from time to time but usually removed when reported or admin sees them.

I thin you are right when I clicked o the address it went thru to a site called Health Supplements For You., but I haven't clicked on anything it just came up in my inbox as a forum notification for this site.

The best thing is to hit the report button with these.

I’ll tag @Northerner incase he can help with this.
If you send them to your spam folder , that might stop them getting through.

I always just delete them. I’ve changed the settings on the forum for no emails to be sent, so I know they are fake.

Always delete them. This site would not send you any such emails. However, I will report it to Diabetes UK so that they can check whether some members may have become compromised.

Opening the email also informs the scammers that your email address is valid and you will get more and more of them.
Not if you use a good email client, one which blocks remote images unless you explicitly give permission to display them.

However, the rest of your advice is sound.

I usually open phishing emails, partly to see if they have been flagged as such (and report them if they haven't), and partly to have a good laugh at them, especially how many millions they're offering me this time. 😉

Thanks Guys
Being female I don't have much use for cut price Viagra, which was what was on offer this time.
I will leave the offending eemail in my inbox in case any of the admins want to report the sender, carefully chosen words there.
However if anybody.......😱

I had two emails recently telling me I was due large amounts of tax rebate. Strange really as I don't pay tax. I contacted HMRC and they follow up all scams

Another recent scam is to ask you to pay an outstanding tax bill by buying iTunes cards.
I find it amazing people continually fall for these but the scammers target the over 60's many of who are not Internet savvy.
One day I will tell you about the fun I had a few years ago with a Nigerian scammer trying to transfer money to one of my accounts as an inheritance.
Scamming a scammer is such fun lol if you're bored one day.

So you scam scammers. I wind up cold callers when bored. I had a call about 'frozen pensions' once. Got totally distraught with the guy, asking him how I was going to live, pay bills etc, if the government had frozen my pension, why had they stopped paying it, should I get in touch with my bank. He wasn't sure what to say, as son pointed out the answers were probably not on his crib sheet

I love doing it lol

There has always been spam like that on the forum, the fact that we don't see much of it is a tribute to how quickly Northerner gets there to delete them. You may see more of it because you're awake when we're all asleep!

AH
Perhaps a two stage registraton would eliminate that
Just a thought

Other sites still get them even with limited restrictions on initial postings.
