Hi, at my own request I stopped taking SR metformin when I went on Victoza but since then have really struggled with weight - watching it go up when eating healthy and exercising.

Although the weight is coming off now it doesn't seem to be as easy and I have also noticed an increase in my bs at certain times of day.

I am just wondering if anyone else coming off Metformin has experienced similar.

I have spoken to the surgery and can go on Metformin again if I want to - but not sure what to do.

I guess the easy answer is to try it!

I have noticed that the Victoza has helped me have far less hypos but am wondering if this might be due to my bs running higher to start with? I regulary drop to 4 something now and feel hypo ish but know its not a hypo as I used to drop into low 3's and 2's before.

Maybe I just try taking the metformin again and see if it helps with the victoza and then discuss with my consultant at the next appt?

How long have you been off the metformin and on the Victoza Lucy? It's probably worth leaving things for a while so your body is fully adjusted to just the one med otherwise you might just be chasing your tail with working out what the best 'fit' is.

I have been off metformin since starting Byetta last June. I was advised to stay on it whilst taking the other but had reached the stage where I was so fed up with taking so many tablets and elected to stop - but they have left it as a repeat if I want to start again.

Ah, so that is quite a while then! I think you can safely say that trying them again will be a valid experiment, in that case 🙂
