Health bosses insist they are committed to a plan to create ‘super surgeries’.

Town hall bosses in Stockport want to reduce A&E admissions, improve community health services and save money by pooling their health and social care cash with the town’s clinical commissioning group.

They say focusing health care within four community ‘hubs’ will save millions as part of budget cuts.

Their plan is to create four ‘locality hubs’ where patients can access a range of services after being referred by doctors.

Social workers, district nurses, psychiatric services and other voluntary services will be available at four ‘clusters’ of buildings across the borough.

One is already saving cash after being piloted in Marple and Werneth. The plan is to have three others up and running in the next two years in the Heatons and Tame Valley, Cheadle and Bramhall and Stepping Hill and Victoria.
