I find that every now and then I get a painful stinging sensation when bolusing. I haven't really noticed whether this is related to the size of the bolus, but I saw on another thread that this can happen for some people with a greater than 5u bolus. It was suggested there that an extended bolus would help. I'll try that next time.

Does anyone know whether the type of insulin causes this? I use humalog, and used the same for years on MDI. I never noticed a problem then, although the Lantus I used for basal did sometimes sting. I believe that Lantus is well-known for this because of its pH.

Proberly not much help as I don't have a pump and im a newbie :/
But I find sometime when injecting it stings while injecting and after it usually lasts a few minutes then goes away.
Sorry I couldn't be much help.
