with background bleeding and my vision in the right eye is not good. I did see a duty doctor at the beginning of January because of more bleeding and also I can't see properly in the sunshine. I told the dr this and she the only thing that can be done about background bleeding is laser treatment, I've had 3 lots since November and soon after that causes a bleed, it's a vicious circle and a bit worrying. Has any one else suffered from sensitivity to sunlight because of problems with the eye? When I told the duty dr about being blinded by the sunlight she said she didn't know what it was. It's only in the lasered eye and even lokking at this computer screen is difficult, it's very bright. Outside today I had to keep my heard down because I just cannot see properly it isSO bright and sometimes I 'see' or get a glimpse of little flash of light/lights to the right of the eye and I look again but then it's gone. If I put my hand over the bad eye I can around much better,if I cover the good eye then I can only see a fraction of things at the moment, it's like someone has smeared vaselin over my eye and then gone to town with a black marker pen lol, it's sounds odd, I know, but that's the only way I can describe it and the corner of my eye is very heavy, probably blood falling to the bottom. It just seems to be one bleed after another. My nest appointment is on the 28 February. Ihope there isn't too many mistakess in this 😉 Sheena X

Oh no, sorry to hear you're having problems with your eyes. Have no advice to offer, so just a bit hug (((Sheena)))

Same as Monica I am afraid - I have no words of wisdom to help you, but just wanted to say really sorry things are not too good for you.🙂

Sheena, I'm so sorry to hear this Must be awful for you.

It does seem that you should be seen quicker than the end of the month. How about ringing the Consultant's Secretary and explaining what is going on and seeing if they can get you in earlier.

Really sorry to hear this Sheena. I think a few of our members have experienced similar, so hopefully will be able to share their experiences. I hope that things improve for you soon 🙂

Thank you cherrypie and northerner, I suppose I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance really, but if February goes as quickly as January then I woint have too long a wait..Sheenax

Hi Sheena

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having these problems. I have every sympathy because I have some of them due to the retinal vein occlusion/maculopathy/laser treatment for the glaucoma. I don't know which causes which problems but my sight with my left eye is very patchy and I can only read things with that eye if they are in extremely large font and then it is still patchy. I can't cope very well with very bright sunlight and the glare from the lights, particularly cars, isn't very nice. For all of these reasons I stopped driving. However I had found that the eye that doesn't have the retinal vein occlusion/retinopathy has strengthened so that I only notice problems with reading relatively small print (e.g. I can't read a newspaper comfortably even with glasses on) and the sunlight/car lights is very annoying. I hope that things get much better for you very soon. Big hugs x

Thank you so much for your reply, it's a shame you had to stop driving, but I understand why, even if I did drive, I don't think I would be able to. Best wishes Sheenax

hey there, sorry to hear about your eye problems.i suffer from very bad diabetic retinopathy,iv been having regular laser for about 3 years, and suffer very regular bleeds behind the eye,i know exacly what you are seeing with the "vaseline"sight you desribe.mine starts with a big blob of blood in front of my sight which gradully spreads out into one big blur, its horrible.it started in my right eye and i ended up needing an op for detached retinor since then iv had no more beeds in that eye but now theve started in the left!i know what you mean by the sun light hurting, have you noticed that your pupil dosnt shrink in the light?i suffer from bright lights because the constant laser has hit some nerves which has affected the pupil shrinking propley in the light, might be worth asking if that could be the case?i have to wear sunglasses sometimes even at this time of year or else my eyes just stream with water.i compleatly sympathise with you and i hope things get sorted for you.xx

Wow shellyboo, we are almost twinlike with the eye problems😛 I have read up about a detached retina, but I don't seem to have the symptoms for that, a halo around the Iris, I think. I also suffer from Adies Syndrome, it's not serious but the eyelid can droop and the pupil gets bigger, it's just in the right eye but it will probably affect the left one in time. Even at work tonight, just doing a little bit of paper work it was so difficult to see the line that I had folded, the brightness is blinding and I have thought of wearing sunglasses, but haven't done it. It does help knowing someone else has gone through the same thing, I'm sorry you have had to go through this, if you know what I mean. I hope your left eye doesn't have to be operated on though:( Thank you for your lovely messagee( i'm typing this with my hand over the troublesome eye lol) Sheena xx

yea,i know what you mean..i wouldnt wish it apon anybody but it is nice to know there are others going through similer problems and nice to have those people to chat to!🙂

Sheena - I hope that your eye starts to behave itself and that you managed to get the dispensation at work so you didn't have to do the cleaning. I can't remember what the last update was on that. If it is still a problem then have another word with your boss - put the request in writing if it helps.

Hi

Sorry about your eye problems - have been having to find out various options for K lately too.:(

You mention problems with glare - my Dad was prescribed/ got himself yellow glasses which he found helped - K does not find them any help at all - but she always has to be different 😉- I have found this link which may be usefull (I have yet to buy anything from them myself tho')

https://secure.vvhosting.co.uk/cobolt/store/eric_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?idCategory=18

K has a magnifying lens with a light which for some reason helps, and a mini telescope type thing which she looks thro at the whiteboard sometimes (the whiteboard is the bane of her life!) - can you get some advice from your local sight centre or similar?

Hope you get some help or improvement soon - vision problems are a nightmare (and another 'invisible' problem like diabetes:( )

Xx

Thanks marge amd meanmom. Marge I am still doing cleaning now I work all day so most of the day is cleaning, I know they would get rid of me if I asked for lesser work, the whole place has to be cleaned on a Saturday, so even if they showed empathy towards my eye condition and got someone in to do Saturdays cleaning I would lose out on 7 1/2 hours which would mess up everything.
Meanmom, Thanks for your suggestion about sight centre, I never even thought of that. Today I helped out with a school trip to a zoo, it was bright and sunny, so wore sunglasses which helped a little bit. Before that, at 8.45 am the sun was blinding my sight, I couldn't see so Tia linked arms with me and then pulled me to the right because I would of walked into a lamp post directly in front of me, and it's a route to the school we take all the time😱 Even the blinding light today and freezing tempatures couldn't spoil a wonderful day out. Next appointment is 28 February, hopefully the 'murky waters' would of cleared and no new bleeds. Fingers crossed. Hope K is alright, our eyes are so precious to us. A big thank you Sheenaxx

Hi Sheena i have had a bit of laser done from an excellent Eye hosp in sunderland. Why why is it allways a nice sunny day when you get drops in ? Hope you can get things sorted.
