How can you maintain almost the same low levels throughout the day as the fasting level first thing? I have been given some leeway being old and new to all this, but have managed to get my fasting level down to where my diabetes nurse wants it to be, but she expects almost the same all day long, and for me, that is impossible.

What seems to be causing you to go higher?

I never have the same levels all day or even every day. There are many things that can affect levels, not just food.

If you eat or exert yourself your blood glucose will alter - I can't see how it wouldn't.

Perhaps she means get your hba1c down to the figure your fasting numbers are at the moment. Not constantly the same readings just the average over time.

But I bet they are low....mine aren't and even though the fasting level is where it should be, levels at other times of the day are higher than they should be. The best I can achieve late afternoon is just below 20, this before taking any insulin, and it then drops down obviously two/three hours after taking insulin and eating my main meal.

What insulin(s) do you take @Ditzyoldme ? Perhaps the dose or timing is the issue?

Are you just on basal insulin? If so, maybe you need a bolus insulin too?

It depends what you call low, I have been 80% in target for the last for the last 90 days a cording to my Libre.

Sorry to hear that you have been set unreasonable expectations of rock-solid BGs all day every day by your nurse - that’s certainly not what happens for people without diabetes!

Well done on getting your waking BG into a good place - celebrate your wins!
