Every year on 14 November World Diabetes Day is celebrated and marked locally by Diabetes UK Northern Ireland encouraging people to ‘go blue’ for diabetes.
Famous landmarks and buildings across the world also light up blue and here in Northern Ireland a number of local Councils have agreed to ‘go blue’ for diabetes and show their support for local people living with the condition.
This year the Stena Line Belfast Giants have joined forces with Diabetes UK Northern Ireland and will wear bespoke jerseys for their game against the Cardiff Devils on Saturday 8 November. Giants Defenceman Calvin Elfring has Type 1 diabetes and has been instrumental in getting this night organised.
