Hi
I am starting a new job soon and its working nights. How do people handle their meds and meals while on night shifts? i have struggled to keep a low carb diet going due to funds but hoping this new job will change things a lot.

How much adjustment you may need to make will partly depend on what meds and if you have facilities for eating your own food. It can often be the transition between days off and working nights that will need some time to get used to.
No need though for low carb to be more expensive especially if you are reducing portions as well and having more veg.

Are you going to be working a perminant nights or a shift partan with so many days off/on? Will you be eating your own food or canteen food
I did 13 years of nights as a diabetic 6 of them as insulin requiring and i had no issues around taking meds/insulin Your employer has to make adjustments under the DDA You may have to get used
to taking meds at what might seem like odd times to others ie your morning meds will be taken at night time
good luck and let us know how you get on
ps well done on the new job treat yourself to something with your first wages

Hope the new job goes well @mark1985

Hopefully it’ll be fairly steady and not too busy/stressy (which can have an impact on BG levels itself)

Will you be able to take pre-packed versions of the sorts of foods you have been finding work well for you? Maybe some extra Tupperware-type containers would be worthwhile?

Give yourself some time to adjust and adapt to the new system, and don’t beat yourself up if there are a few wobbles along the way.

Do you have a BG meter to keep an eye on your levels and see if they are being affected?
