Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi i haven't posted for quite a while. Things haven't been great. I've had increases to me epilepsy medication
which have left me lethargic. My arthritis in my hip is getting more painful and the one form of exercise
that i loved i haven't (like so many people) i haven't been able to do for the last few months.......swimming.
I do have a phone appointment with the Diabetes Nurse tomorrow as i feel that i have hit an all time low.
Feel depressed, worried about sugar levels ....I'm type 2..... and how i've slipped in terms of habits.
I really want to know my blood sugar levels as this may shock me into doing something. I wouldn't mind doing
blood tests on myself as i am worried. I lost a family relative, who didn't have diabetes, but it's given me a shock.
Because my memory is getting worse with an increase in epilepsy meds, i'm hopeless in remembering questions.
Does anyone else go to their doctor/nurse with questions written down? The last few months have been difficult for everyone in so many different ways, but juggling multiple conditions is getting really frustrating. The heat isn't helping as that triggers seizures. Thankfully i don't drink alcohol or smoke and can't stand red meat, so at least i can score these off the list of any probs. Wish me me luck. I'm feeling kind of isolated at the moment. K

Hi Kfr, and welcome back. Sounds like things have been tough but we will do what we can to help you get back on track. It's mostly a listening ear and encouragement but it is amazing what can be achieved even with those simple tools.

As for writing questions down, DO IT!!. I do just to make sure I have not missed anything. That gives you a job to do today and it will help you clarify in your own mind what things are troubling you most and help in getting the guidance you need from your DN.

Keep posting and let us know how you get on.

There is nothing wrong with writing down questions for anything, whether GP or DSN. It might help to jot down your worries as well when you speak to both to make sure you don't forget what you want to say. I have a bit of understanding as to how your epilepsy meds make you feel as i was on them for a short time (they decided after 3 years the seizures were caused by an infection, not epilepsy) and know it can be hard to remember. It sounds like you're having a really tough time atm but keep posting. We are all here to listen. Let us know how you get on with your DSN and GP. Take care

Hi I got to speak to the nurse and sh was really good. Really down to earth.
I've managed to get an appointment for this coming Friday to get blood taken
and she will get in touch the following Friday, as she works part time at one surgery
and then part time at another. Although it's not nice getting blood taken i'm actualky
looking forward to it in weird way!!!! Feel like something has come off my shoulders.

That's good news @Ffr, I hope the blood test results give some useful pointers, and that you continue to get good support from your nurse.
The weather is cooling down a bit now as well, so hopefully that will also help you feel a bit better.
I hope you will let us know how it goes.
Best wishes and take care
