Just bought and started self testing ( diabetic nurse had told me it wasn’t required ! )
Only have done a few test due to small amount of strips so far ....
My morning tests come in at 6.8 or 6.7.... before eating
Have tested a couple of times in evening .....11.8
Any thoughts on these numbers would be welcome....
I realise the need to change my diet....
Just not sure what the numbers are saying
Am on metformin twice a day
Thanks

Hi blindbeggar, your morning tests look good (between 4-7 is quite acceptable 🙂). The 11.8 is harder to evaluate, as it would depend on what you ate, what your levels were before eating, and how long after eating you did the test 🙂 Have a read of Test,Review, Adjust by Alan S which describes how to make efficient use of your tests and get the most out of those precious strips 🙂 Let us know if there is any thing you are unsure of 🙂

Do you keep a food diary? I find that really useful in evaluating what food effects me the most, it might be worth it to see what foods you're eating then your BG is up higher.
