A ST AUSTELL doctor has been formally declared bankrupt just two months after giving up her NHS contract.
Dr Manisha Cooper was a partner at Polkyth Surgery until August 31 when she and fellow practice manager Dr Angus Senior quit the NHS because of "financial difficulties".
The 43-year-old's name was on a list published by the Insolvency Service after being declared bankrupt at Truro County Court on October 7 – two days before health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published a fiercely critical report on the standard of services at Polkyth.
The surgery, which is now run by a new consortium of doctors known as the St Austell Healthcare Group, has until November 4 to address the CQC's concerns.
