Tottenham Hotspur legend and club ambassador Gary Mabbutt has officially opened a cutting-edge health facility in Tottenham Hale that will provide a major boost to kidney and diabetes patients in north London and beyond.

The centre, close to the Tube station, is run by the Hampstead-based Royal Free Hospital and is the largest dialysis unit outside a hospital setting in the UK.

It boasts 48 dialysis stations, with capacity to treat 266 dialysis patients each week. It started accepting patients in April, replacing the services previously provided at the North Middlesex Hospital in Edmonton. Services have also moved from the Mary Rankin unit at St Pancras Hospital and the Highgate dialysis unit.
