AN athlete who has refused to let diabetes hold her back is to carry the flame in next year?s Olympic torch relay.

Wales sprinter Melanie Stephenson was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, an incurable condition which causes the body to stop making insulin, at the age of 13.

In the decade following her diagnosis, the speedy 23-year-old from Gabalfa, Cardiff, has gone from strength to strength in her running career, regularly representing Wales in the 100m and 200m events,

Good on her, her determination is admirable im sure she makes Gabalfa very proud as well as her family

Does the Team think we ought to gask DUK to gather all these people up and Make a Thing out of it?

Bloody good publicity for them and Diabetes next year I reckon!!!!!!!
