Hi I'm 22 and I was diagnosed as a type 1 in February. I finally have my readings under control and in single figures consistently. Before I was diagnosed I loved my sport and i was very active. I'm back exercising however I'm looking for advise of what people do to prevent their sugar levels dropping during high intensity exercise please?

You have done well to get your levels into single figures so quickly after diagnosis.

Having T1 does not need to stop you doing any exercise, it just takes a bit of organising, and a bit of trial and improvement. The options you could try are
- If exercising after a meal, reduce your Bolus insulin at the meal.
- if exercising before a meal, reduce the basal insulin if taken a few hours before or
- eat some carbs before you start e exercising.

Those are simplistic descriptions, and the only way 8 have sorted things out is to make a record of what I have done for different forms of exercise at different times.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but well done on getting to grips with it so quickly. It may be that you are in the ‘honeymoon’ phase where your last remaining islet cells are helping you out, which may take the edge off your extremes, but some find their islets can be a bit ‘stop start’ which may throw-in a few challenges too.
