GP thinks my problems are gallstones, wants to examine me and do some initial tests etc

Boy oh boy am I glad I posted on here this morning as I put my pain and sickness down to just one of those things.

now i need to not panic 😱

Glad to hear things have moved on for you. My gall stones play up from time to time but nothing like the pain and sickness you have been going through and they decided at the hospital not to do anything to me unless things got worse and it's been very quiet for a long while now so I'm just hoping that they've decided to go away on their own - not likely I know.

Anyway I hope they get you diagnosed (evidently from the scan I've got "a lovely crop of stones") and do whatever is best for you. 🙂 Sending all best wishes,
 
Hope they get you sorted out quickly so you can start feeling better. It's not a problem I've ever had, but a friend did and they used some sort of sound wave thingy to break up the stones. It worked really well for her.
 
To say my head is reeling is probably not a good description of how I'm feeling at the mo.....

GP said he cannot rule out ulser or gallstones - he thinks more the latter.

He has prescribed me drugs in case it is an ulser and buscapan if it is gallstones to help with the pain when it strikes. He said he would not prescribe the anti sickness drugs as he got the impression I would not seek urgent medical attention if it struck again - well after last nights episode I defo will - I really dont want to go through that again.

Got blood test booked in for Friday morning and I am getting an urgent referal for an ultra sound scan thingy Urgent 3 to 4 weeks rather than 8 + cause of the diabetes - he has given me an info leaflet on what will happen if it is the gallstones - they dont zap them anymore as they come back - so it will be removal of gall bladder.

Anyway - I'm trying not to panic - got my lovely trip to ireland to prepare for next week.
 
Sorry to hear about your problems, poor you. glad you saw GP and things are getting sorted out. Hope Ireland will do you good and be a nice treat in amongst all this for you. Take good care of yourself and all the best with everything - rather a shock to your system I should think.xx

I am so pleased though you went to your GP, with the whole treatment regime now in motion.

Thanks everyone - Hopefully it will be sorted asap.

Daft thing is I haven't generally been feeling unwell (bit of a cold last week) - only when the pains have struck during the nights. It's got me thinking could Oxford have been the start of this and it wasn't really the chicken !!

I'm quite angry about this as well - like I need this to be happening now - what with the stress of the adoption stuff as well. I dont want something like this to be used against me when it comes to the medical ggrrrr (maybe I'm just being paranoid now)
 
Hey, Come on Di, I know your alone tonight, but theres no need for negative thoughts, thats not or bright and bubbly Di, your starting to put 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. When it comes to the adoption medical, they are not checking to see if you have gallstones, so put that out of your mind. Why don't you sit comfy put some background music on, and relax, and think about that holiday in Ireland that your going to enjoy with your hubby..

Glad you have managed to be seen and are on the way to a diagnosis. I am in the wrong job :D

Seriously though, if it does prove to be gallstones and they decide to operate, you will be back on your feet in no time and there is absolutely no reason why this should affect your adoption plans. Anyone and everyone can get gallstones, and these days with keyhole surgery, it really isn't the big operation it once was.

Don't go worrying about it affecting your holiday either, I know when my mother-in-law had them she went months and months between flare-ups, but that wasn't diagnosed for a long time after she first had an attack. I agree with you, it could well have been the start of it when you came to Oxford. I am assuming you had some pain with the sickness then too? You certainly looked pretty dreadful that afternoon. It can be excrutiatingly painful, so definitely better out than in!
