Spiking Levels

Hi All

I tend to be spiking after lunch every single day. I do not eat a high carb lunch, I have chicken salad, an apple & a packet of lentil chips. I inject 1.5 for every 10g and this still does not seem to lower the spikes. I administer 26g of Treciba before bed every night which keeps my levels in range until lunch.

Please can someone advise as I am losing the will to live.

Welcome @Apesray1997 🙂 How many carbs in total are in your lunch? It doesn’t sound that many. I ask because if you don’t eat enough carbs, your body will get glucose from elsewhere - ie the protein in your chicken. This can give an annoying later high sugar.

Another question, how far in advance of lunch are you injecting? Maybe bolusing earlier will help.

Finally, how high are you spiking and are you back in range by your next meal? If you’re not spiking too high and it’s a brief spike with you back in range by your next meal that could be ok.

Hi @Apesray and welcome to the Forum 🙂. How long have you been living with Diabetes? Do you have roughly the same sort of lunch every day and you say this is happening every day (?).
