Hi, ive just joined the forum and hope to get some advice along the way....

bit of background...

im 49, male, diagnosed type 2 three years ago this month....

after the initial shock i got things under control and for the vast majority of the past three years I have had daily BSL readings of anywhere between 5-7....

so, the last 3 weeks ive been bouncing between 12 - 20 and cant seem to get any consistency in my BSL...I havent changed anything sleeping, eating or working

anyone else experienced this type of spike that's turning into a plateau? Help....... feeling a touch worried there's something else going on here ?

Do you have an infection Martin, even one you’re not completely aware of because it’s just developing. Levels can shoot up when we are unwell or stressed. Have any meds or food choices changed?

hi, not one i am aware of.....except a case of male thrush which came out of nowhere, apologies for the gory detail but i guess its all relevant? thats gone now and BSL still high..... no meds changes, no food changes ....?

Thrush is an infection, caused by a fungus. Like all infections, your body reacts by increasing blood glucose levels. Effects can persist - how long ago since symptoms ceased?
What medications are you taking, for diabetes and any other conditions?

Thanks...

Probably saw a real reduction in the thrush thing about 2 days ago, I’ve been taking metformin 500mg tablets, one at the start of the day & two with a main meal, for pretty much 2 years now...

Martin...have you spoken to your GP or the nurse about the rise...with levels between 12-20 you should have a word with them...particularly if you have had good control for the last few years...infections will raise your blood sugars...possibly the thrush...what did you use to treat it?...if I were you I would give your GP a call...even if just to put your mind at rest.
