A few weeks ago I had a fall and grazed my toes, most of them healed but one is very weepy and sore.

I phoned the doctor and said my toe is sore has a scab on it is very painful so I can't get shoes on can someone come and have a look at it. Having established it would be difficult for me to walk down the doctors surgery and the nearest bus is only one stop and still some distance from the doctors surgery I was promised a district nurse. Having phoned and pestered since Tuesday still no sign of the district nurse. I know I am not an emergency but I am having difficulty getting about and my feet are getting cold and painful.

It is very frustrating as my husband is very ill and my almost 11 year old is special needs, and if I can't get about I can't look after him properly or even get over the road for things like bread and milk and all of the neighbours and my grown up son are out at work all day.

All I want is a little support but no one wants to give it to me, it wont last forever, but it is immensely frustrating.

Very sorry to hear this Caroline :( Would it be worth a taxi? Not that you should have to, of curse, if they've promised a nurse will call - have they given any reason why she hasn't shown up yet?

I hope you can get it seen to quickly.

Hi there everyone.

Got the sore toes sorted out. I eventually had a doctor come see me and she dispatched me to hospital. I came home yesterday afternoon.

It turned out I had a very bad infection so have lost an offensive toe. There is still some infection there and I go back tot he diabetic foot clinic Friday to see what they have to say.

There is a chance I'll have to go back in, but it is planned for this time and could be there for a couple of weeks. I may lose two more toes, I was expecting to lose three anyway, but we will see.

I was in the hospital overlooking the palace of Westminster so had Big Ben as a bedside clock. I can't fault the care I got from most of the staff, all of my questions were answered on the spot or an answer was found for me.

Sorry to hear about your toes and wait.

So sorry to hear about that Caroline but glad to hear you eventually received good treatment. I thought I'd replied on this because I felt cross for you that they didn't respond quickly enough to what turned out to be an emergency.

Hope you managed with your home commitments during your hospitalisation.

Best wishes for future treatment 😱

I'm really sorry to hear about the toe Caroline :( Glad to hear you got good treatment, but a shame it had to get to this stage. Hope you recover well, and that things go better than expected with the other two toes. Take care {{{HUGS}}}

Sorry to hear about your toe Caroline, and I hope the other two can be saved. I can't believe you were left so long, as a person with diabetes and a foot injury :(.

I'm really sorry to hear about your toe and I'm glad the hospital treatment was so good, but they really shouldn't have left you so long in the first place :(. I hope you're recovering well and the other toes can be treated. I hope your hubby and youngster are doing OK and you're healing up as painlessly as possible 😱

Thanks for all of your good wishes and kind thoughts.

I feel so much better that it seems impossible things had got so bad. The worst case scenario is I will lose all of my toes, I was expecting to lose at least three, but if I don't need to lose any more I shall be happy.

This is one of those things I think had been developing over a period of time and falling out of my arm chair brought it to a head.

While I was in hospital the doctors and nurses sorted out my diabetes medication and say I should have been on insulin for a long time. I am on humalin 3 20 units in the morning and 10 units in the evening and sitagliptin at lunch time.

Caroline I am so sorry to hear that both the management of your foot and your diabetes was so incompetent by so called health professionals. I'm so glad that the hospital was a lot more helpful. I so hope that you don't lose anymore toes. Big hugs x

I was expecting to lose three toes so if I have to lose more I wont be disappointed. If I don't need to lose any more toes I will be very happy.

My GP is not brilliant and last year when I was diagnosed with the cancer it was the locum who got everything sorted out because my own doctor was treating me for piles. The locum was on maternity cover for another doctor I the practice.

I am really sorry to hear about this and hope they can save the rest of your toes.

Sorry to hear this, hope you manage to keep the rest of your toes.

I hope the toes can be saved too, but I am prepared for it if they have to go. Thanks to everyone for kind thoughts and support.
