Hi there guys can anyone recommend something good to help me I've got a really sore throat (razor blades) and struggling to swallow. The chemist has told me that I cannot have anything over the counter as I am type one and I can't get a Drs apt for 2 weeks which is no good. Am sure the chemist is wrong. Any help welcome??? Xxx

Strepsils do a sugar free lozenge Katie. I found gargling with Difflam helped too (its sugar free).

I usually have Halls Mentholyptus sugar-free 🙂 Although, as a Type 1 you can have the ones with sugar in them as long as you have an appropriate amount of insulin - an occasional one wouldn't have much impact on my levels 🙂

Gargling with hot salty water works pretty well to relieve throat pain for 30 to 60 minutes. Since you don't swallow anything, it's safe, plus much cheaper than lozenges.

Vogel do a product called molcosan which is made from whey it is brilliant for gargeling with ,drying up cold sores (stings a bit) it also makes a good salad dressing with oil.
