Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi - I am Bianca and my son Bobby was only just diagnosed last week. We noticed after an increased thirst, headaches and bed wetting. We have diabetes in the family, his cousin age 7 diagnosed with type 1 when he was 4 years old and his grandad also a type 1 diabetic.
We have joined for advice and to learn, we are approaching this together as a family along with my husband and daughter age 13.
So far he has been amazing!

Welcome Bianca, glad you found us. Useful to have experience in the family and glad to hear your son is doing well. Has he gone back to school yet? Hope you get good support there. What insulin regime is he on?

Hello and welcome Bianca, sorry to hear that Bobby has been diagnosed T1, but good to hear he is doing so well 🙂

He is not in school this week until a care plan is in place, they have put him on novorapid and lantus for eve.
Still working it all out at the moment it is alot to take in and learn about but pleased there are forums such as this. Nice to feel part of a community, knowing we are not on our own.

Hello Biana and welcome 🙂

There is as you say a lot to take in at first, but it soon becomes second nature. If you've any questions please do ask, someone here is sure to be able to help.

You might find it useful to get hold of a copy of this book.

Welcome B & Bobby. You have joined a good site. good luck 🙂
