my Hba1c came back as normal range 41 tonight hours after having my meal i have just checked my BG levels and it is up to nearly 11 how can that be if my Hba1c is okay?

i don't feel off colour so am stumped as to what is going on here.

i have a review back end of next week so am going to do daily and evening recordings and then take things from there.

one thing when i was told type 2 i was never tested once to determine if i was actually type 2 or some other type.

The HbA1C is the average over the last 10-12 weeks so from what you have been doing food wise over that period of time will have influenced that particular result whereas the finger prick you took today will be a reflection of what you ate today or more recently. It could have been you had something on your fingers or it was that hot cross bun (only joking). So yes check again and note what you have had to eat or drink.

if you spend the majority of time in range then your hba1c will come back as normal, it's a very misleading result to base changes etc from and that's why finger pricking is widely suggested because the hba1c won't rise with a few spikes here and there

Are you anaemic? This can cause wrong reading with A1c's

My HbA1c was round about exactly the same as it had been for two or three years when my day to day fingerprick tests revealed that several times a day my BG meter said HI and ditto LO, on the same days - I was having a tiddly bit of stress at the time and over correcting in both directions .... nightmare. The peaks and troughs cancelled each other out resulting in an HbA1c answer of 'Average' - so nowt to concern myself about apparently.

this is going to be a total night mare if she reduces medication i can see heap big problems going on here which is why i am recording a weeks worth before she lets loose on me and i can then use the diary as a weapon.

i all ways wonder when i see members come on here saying they are now back to normal ranges how much of that is just the medication controlling it and when the medication is stopped what is then going on with their BG levels as i suspect many will feel cured and then forget about recording their BG levels and unknown to them it is all over the place.

for me i was labelled a type 2 i did ask to be tested to determine the type of diabetes and all i got from a doctor was ' it is not something we normally do' yeah like hell

been up since 5am haven't even had my breakfast just checked my BG and it is at 10.0 think i give up with this bloody thing.

now done 3 days worth and the BG levels are stuck between 10 and 11 both morning and evening really at a loss. going off previous diary readings the morning readings were a lot better than this.

my review i think is on the 8th so will be interesting to see what they have to say just hope i have got a nurse with her head screwed on right.

decided to telephone doctors my BG seem stuck over 10 and are on the increase were at 13 last night and this morning not much better, really not sure what is going on. not seriously high but don't want them getting too high then making me badly.

sounds like insulin resistance,i find if i don't make the effort to get off my boat at lest once a day sugar levels after meals start following a similar profile to what you have described.
just a trip to my work shop to tinker or rowing out to my other boat soon bring sugar levels back into their normal ranges.

spoke with the doctor it is pain driving up the levels. also still getting some blood every morning through the nasal areas so first agenda in the morning telephone the hospital to get that camera down to see where this blood is still coming from. i have had nothing but bad heads since this happened. :(
