Hi there, Just had my appointment with the GP. I explained to her that I am quite concerned that the setraline may be affecting my blood sugar levels. She asked me who decided to put me on it, as normally she would recommend citalopram. Nevertheless she asked me to come back for a blood test, which I have on Monday. Felt great this morning, and went for a walk and exercise. This is usually the time of day when I feel low and anxious. I was told that I have only been on the antis for a 2 and a half weeks it takes time.

Really glad you felt they listened & that you've had a good day - hope the rest of the day is lovely too! 🙂

Really pleased to hear you were feeling much better this morning rustee 🙂 I hope that the test helps determine whether you are on the correct medication.

Hold on to that GP!!! :D

It must give you a feeling that you can regain some control over your life. Well done for sticking with it and enjoy your happy times.🙂

Well I do try, I usually feel low from the mid morning until the afternoon. But this support forum is so knowledgeable. It seems that a good few people understand and seem to have had depression as well. To be honest I dont really want the gastric bypass - however, when the bariatric doctor said it would deal with all my problems, I am keeping it in mind.

I'm glad you are feeling more positive. Long may it continue for you. Sheena

I obviously don't know, but I would imagine that the surgeon is considering only the physical problems you are facing, and not the psychological ones you may currently be dealing with, and also any that may be as a result of the surgery.

That's great news Rustee!! And as Rob said, hold onto that GP!! Having someone just listen can make such a difference...and often actually helps solve some problems!

I hope you continue to feel great 🙂 great news for a Friday!

Hi,

It may have been that whoever put you on the antidepressant considered that your depression had to take precedence over your diabetes.
There are pages of antidepressants and your Dr. needs to talk through with you which one is acceptable to you.
Glad you are getting sorted out and long may it continue. You will get there as your posts show that you are determined to overcome this. Take all the help that is offered and please post here if you are feeling down. We all benefit from a shoulder to cry on even if it is only a virtual one.:D This forum has helped me enormously lately over personal issues.

Thanks for that. I have found that while this is a diabetes forum. You guys give support and advice for other things like depression too. I know my mind is not the best right now, however, thank god I do research and realise that it's symptoms of the condition.

On another note, I know some of you have BG monitors, I had got one, however, my previous GP said to me "You dont need that, just concentrate on weight loss".

Last reading Jan 2012 - HbA1c was 47. I forgot what that was in old money

Marginally under 6.5 rustee. About 6.41 LOL
