As some of you may remember I was worried about PIP. Due to major health changes - including a neurosurgepn wanting to cut through my throat to get to my spinal cord (I'm relaxed about it now and have decided against it) as required by PIP I notified of the changes. They sent us a form which Mark filled in my behalf. As we were when I first applied for PIP, we were complete honest about each situation (I'm paranoid about putting the wrong thing). I got a text a week ago to say that a decision had been made and a letter today confirming full rate for both parts. It has been a very emotional journey having to describe on the form just how much my life has been affected by my disabilities/health - especially when I had the effects of over ten illnesses to discuss - but it's all sorted now and the award is for five years until 2030.
My main advice about filling in the form is a) be honest b) have relevant medical information i.e. keep all consultant letter etc etc) make sure that what you write clearly applies to the relevant PIP descriptor that you are writing about - they can only award points if they know how your circumstances apply to each descriptor d) Be specific e.g. don't write quite often, say specifically how often on average e) provide specific real life examples for each descriptor
f) read through everything you can on the internet e.g. CAB etc for advice about filling in the form g) try to get help completing it e.g. from CAB etc although I understand that it is getting increasingly difficult for them to have the time to do this h) be comfortable about whether you think you match the descriptors - if you don't match them it's not worth the stress etc of applying for it (that is my personal opinion).
These are probably my only comments on this thread as I am exhausted and struggle typing and concentrating nowadays. Plus another thing - you are almost certainly unlikely to get PIP if you "just" have diabetes (again my personal opinion).
