ive been type 2 for about 18 months and take metformin, delicate question people, my clinic told me that it could make me loose mmmmm my life revolves round where the nearest toilet is, ive asked others on metformin and this appears to be the biggest secret, there has been serious near misses, surely this cannot be right, any advice please, sorry about the subject matter thanks x

Hi Grannie Pammie my daughter is taking metaformin (she is not diabetic but takes it for polysistic ovaries) she doesn't have a problem unless she drinks alcohol. I would check it with your doctor if I were you that sounds a bit severe.
ps my other daughter is called Pammie she's 15.🙂

It's supposed to be a problem for the first month or so, but then it all calms down.

If you still have the problem 18 months later then possibly you can't tolerate Metformin (it happens). Some people try the slow release (SR) version and find that helps.

thank you

ive spoken to quite a few people on metformin and they seem to keep it a secret, my son in laws mum and grandma have had nasty accidents infact the grandma doesnt go out now, i have an aunt whos had the same, my nurse just says it happens, its dreadful

There are alternative meds, so there is no reason to suffer in silence, talk to your GP.
