So upset:(

Hi I'm so upset got called in office and am at risk of being made redundant they are doing a selection process
Oh sorry to hear that, it is a horrible position to be in with all the uncertainty.
That happened a couple of times where I worked where we all had to apply for our own jobs. It sometimes backfired as people decided to leave anyway as they didn't like the way they were being treated and then we were short staffed.
All you can do is your best and prove you are a valuable member of staff and it would be their loss.

I am really sorry to read this.
Redundancies are awful. It is a painful process for all involved even those who remain. In my experience, many of those who remain find it is a push to get them to look elsewhere.

@corriefan the biggest piece of advice I have been given during redundancy process is don’t take it personally. In the UK, it is not possible to make a person redundant. It is the role that is cut.

So sorry to hear of your situation and great advice from Helli and they are correct in that it is the role that is being made redundant not the person.
When it happens due to the need for “ secrecy” and to be frank many organisations are much more concerned about their own processes rather than the immediate folk affected. So that the actual process seems manipulative from the start.
In my experience it is never pleasant but the attitude of your Senior Management will ultimately determine how it is handled.
I have been through the process about 4 times the last 15 years ( the first time I was made redundant) but the other 3 I made it through the process.
It is horrible and creates a lot of uncertainty but if and it is a big if your employer treats you well in the process and in my case I was lucky to have a lot of years service and a top tier employer so was pretty well looked after.
Wishing you all the best as do appreciate how much of a lottery it can feel like.
