Because about 4.30pm Pete noticed I'd had a text and it was inviting me for my vaccine booster and my flu jab, 'today' - drop in any time up to 6.30. pete hadn't had one but hey, he's over 50 too so we both went and both had our boosters, but not our flu jabs, cos they hadn't got any of the over 65 one - come back sometime this coming week.

Then on Saturday, he received a choose & book letter - and got an appointment in January. Would have been the same at the other choice, so just need to get a diary for 2022 now so we can make sure we don't double book anything as all sorts of things are cropping up at the mo.

Good to hear your booster has happened. Hope your flu jab appointments roll around speedily.

The cogs are grinding here too, I had a letter inviting me to make an appointment for retinal screening, so not quite an appointment, but I will book one asap. My last one in April 2020 was an early casualty of Covid, so I haven’t been screened since April 2019.

Just had my retinal screen and its so reassuring to be a little bit back to normal

I missed my retinal screening appointment by being on holiday - so not had one since May 2019. Apparently I'm on the "waiting list".

@trophywench

Very pleased to hear that has come through at long last - is this appointment for Cardiology or his pulmonary specialist?

@Pattidevans - 'Vascular' - so = cardio. The respiratory one to get the full results/discussion of the tests he undertook in July, is in November.

PS the week before last we saw some people we hadn't seen for 2+ years and in catching up with them they told us about a chap we all met at the same time 2+ years ago in France - he's well over 80 and about right now having his own AAA stented since it had grown to 50mm - hence we concluded we might perhaps have been better off moving to Leicestershire some time ago, instead of Warwickshire ........ 🙄

I got fed-up waiting so I paid my optician to do the full diabetic review...a few weeks later one of the surgery nurses wanted to know why I’d missed my retinal screening appointment - cos I hadn’t received the invite, of course. I’m now waiting for a new appointment, but if the last letter didn’t arrive I’m not confident the new appointment will come thru either. I suppose I’ll end up being sent to the naughty step. 😛

Glad to hear you’ve been triple-jabbed @trophywench.

Trophywench I don't know where you live exactly (and it's not my business), but I'm in Leicestershire and our choose and book options usually include Coventry, Rugby, George Elliott and sometime Warwick.

We only get UHCW, Rugby and Geo Eliot, this time Pete didn't have GE but did have Warwick. UHCW Cov had no appts, Rugby and Warwick both had same 118 days delay so he booked Rugby as we at least know the way. Years ago they always offered Solihull too but they never had any appts if you chose them. Never ever have either of us seen Leicester mentioned - even though we can virtually spit on Leicestershire from here.

Careful, because I'm under a mile from the Warwickshire border, and thinking about it, some of Leicesterhire actually have CV postcodes, like Market Bosworth.

Well, we now have a more specifically named CCG ie Coventry & Warwickshire CCG although of course Coventry is no longer in Warks, having been swallowed by West Midlands. So - hence why Warwick hospital gets included. It gets trickier in both Leics and Notts, since certain sites both also provide certain services for the folk in Norfolk. It makes sense for husband to stay with UHCW since most of his hospital records are on their computer - however not his latest respiratory ones since they were done at Geo Eliot and they don't share computer records without them specifically requesting them from each other, one of the first Qs at Geo Eliot was why he hadn't yet had a chest Xray which they'd told the GP he needed? - well of course he had - GP arranged it with UHCW and they did it.

We were asked to go for our flu jab at the chemist when we went in to collect prescription had mine same day, wonder if they are doing this to shorten the drs list. Not quite sure how they are scheduling coved boosters as a few people I know my age, 61, have been....maybe it’s alphabetical . Just had negative coved results as grandson has coved

I went for booster at GP's, but they had no flu vaccine. As there is a chemist next door to the GP I asked if they had flu vaccine. It seems they had and were only too willing to vaccinate qualifying patients. So after the booster and waiting the required 15 minutes, I went to the chemist next door who were already waiting for me, so no delay.
