Hey Andy. I got diagnosed in Nov 21 too and I found I have Tachycardia..... Is your angina being treated? Your HbA1C is a bit higher than mine but never the less I guess we are both doing some form of dieting? I am low carbing and restricing my calories to 800 a day to lose 15kg.
My nurse said that low carb actually helps with cholesterol. but you can help more by eating good fats as well as ordinary meat etc. So olive oil, a few walnuts, oily fish all good for cholesterol.
Can you mix up your meals a bit? I like smalls steaks or chicken breast seasoned with pesto and with green veg, salmon with veg, mackeral with veg, all kinds of omelettes, baked eggs in spiced tinned tomato, 'fake' konjak pasta, curried chicken (curry by leaving your chicken chunks to soak in cumin, turmeric and ginger spices and chilli in full fat yogurt then bake it in foil for 35 mins) serve with cauli rice. I make 'pizza' with an omlette topped with tomato sauce, sausage slices and cheese, I eat loads of veg with cheese on the top. I eat bacon.... in moderation. But I also weigh everything and use myfitness pal.
I think I could eat more carbs but i'm at the 'save my life lose the flab' stage. I do hope you are ok and that you can find lots of advice on this amazing forum.
I think you can ask for more tests to see if your cholesterol is ok. Best x
