For two months I used meal replacement shakes and could see I was losing a bit of weight, but nothing spectacular.
When I found that my HbA1c had risen I stopped the diet.
I needed to have a second appointment to check pulses in my feet - I was given the all clear, but the nurse asked me to step on the scales again as she was concerned I might 'put it all back on' quite quickly.
Since abandoning the shakes and going back to my ordinary way of eating I have lost 1.3Kg. and (I just realised) put on a jumper.....
Being a creature of habit I have found it difficult to resume two meals a day, so my intake of food is still fairly low, but the main thing is no more milk, no more easily accessible carbs, back to salad and veges, over half eaten uncooked.
I wonder if it will ever be acknowledged that Dr Atkins was right.
