I have been a DT2 for 5 years now and have been on all sorts of oral meds and then Byetta. The Byetta quit working so I have been on Bydureon. Very expensive but it works and I have had no side effects at all. One shot a week, losing weight and my A1C went from 6.6 to 5.4 in three months. The thing that concerns me is none of the insurance companies have Bydureon on their formulary and it is very expensive. And none of the pharmacies I have asked about it say anyone else has ordered same. Isn't this odd?

Welcome to the forums DT2_4EVER 🙂

Bydureon is quite new isn't it? I think there was one other on this forum that was using it.

Hi DT2_4EVER, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm guessing that you are not from the UK? Here we don't have to depend on insurance companies for our healthcare requirements, although we do have to depend on the NHS funding things. I think that there are still some concerns about Bydureon here so it isn't widely used.

Sounds like it is really doing the trick for you though - great A1c! 🙂

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum DT2

I would be interested to know what the concerns might be. Is Byetta prescribed in the UK?
