Hi Maria and a warm welcome hun, have a good browse around the forum we have a great parents section and some of the best parents here to help and guide where they can x

Hi maria im the same. this place has been my life saver!!!!!

Hi Maria, welcome to the forum.

Hi Maria welcome to the forum 🙂 x

hi maria

i'm a parent to a diabetic son too!

Tell us a bit about him - age, insulin regime, last hbA1c and how you are all 'coping' with it.

I put the inverted commas there because we do all cope as parents even if its just about and by the skin of our teeth or when we think we're not coping at all.

keep chatting,

rachel

Hi Maria, welcome to the forum 🙂 Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Thank you all

Thank you all for the warm welcome here, im just reading and having a look around the site for now, but in answer to the questions, Joseph is 2 yrs and 10months and was diaognosed in December soon after he turned 2 with Type 1. coping...? erm, not sure about that, getting on with and goin through the motions, maybe, i do beleive im only JUST coming to terms with it and its only JUST sinking in to be honest (if that doesnt sound too weird) What with a diabetic child, a 11 month old madam and Joseph being 2 going on 15, well sometimes i wonder if im a good mum at all. And Yes i DID blame myself for his diabetes, you cant help but think that in the begining, maybe even a little now too, but i have 2 fantastic nurses that reasure and help us every step of the way! we are now on to carb counting and it has given such greater control of it (even if it is like a full time job in its self) however the last week his Blood sugars have been up and down (weather maybe..or growth hormone??) Joseph went straight on to 4 injections a day , so ive not known any difference. Was pleased to hear that that research is great into diabetes and that give it another 4/5 years and the 1 injection every 6 months could be the best thing for the youngsters?!
Obviously i have all the fears running in my head about school and bullying, and hypo's not being detected until too late...and of course will Jasmyn be diabetic too...?!!! Aghhh.

Hello Maria,

Just a quick welcome to the forum from me too.

I'm not a parent and am Type 2, so probably won't be answering too many of any questions that you ask!

Andy 🙂

Hi Maria welcome to the forum, you will find lots of help, support and advice here x

Welcome from another non-parent, who didn't have type 1 diabetes as a child, so probably hasn't got much to add until Joseph is a bit older (experience in organising activity birthday parties for children, orienteering coaching etc). You might find it useful to read threads and post in the Parents section, but you're also welcome in other sections.

Hello Maria...welcome to the forum....🙂

Bernie x
