Can anyone help

I have completed the Sacral Nerve Stimulation trial and been listed for the full SNS. Today the specialist nurse explained that the op is only about 45 min and is done under sedation. There will also be recovery time to consider.

I am using an HCl system which will need to be removed during the op as X-rays are involved. I have emailed my DSN to check this but my plan is:
  • The night before the op to avoid lows switch to a temp target (which stops auto corrections) in HCL
  • Apply a Libre 2+ sensor. (I have not used these for a long time . Can they be set to show SG all the time on a phone. I have only ever used reader before and swiped at intervals.
  • Before the op switch to manual with a basal profile of 120% (This will save me doing it as I recover)
  • Remove HCl sensor before going to theatre
  • Remove pump, out delivery in suspend, when I get to theatre and ask that it is kept away from x rays.
  • Ask anaethetist to monitor SG and once X-rays are done reconnect me and resume delivery of basal again
  • Use manual system (tried HCL last time !!!) until post op levels recover.
Any comments welcome

My recent surgery has involved x-rays and my pump has remained in place with a lead “protector” over it.
This is possible because my surgery is on my arm and my pump is o my abdomen.
Is this a possibility for you?

I do not use HCL but I do have a CGM. For the surgery (which was about 3 hours long) the anaethetist kept an eye on my BG with my CGM phone app.

Thanks @helli . I will ask about the option of a protector on my pump.

Is it a Libre sensor you use. These have been okayed for use in x rays and I think that I would want to use a Libre2+ over that period. I have only ever used the Libre with a reader and swiping it.
Can the Libre 2 be used as a CGM?
What do I need to do on my phone to make it work as a CGM?

I do not a Libre any more.
However, I have the app on my phone from before.
It was simple to set up. You need NFC enabled to start the sensor (swipe it) and Bluetooth to have it working as a CGM.
Finding the NFC receiver point on my phone to know where to hold my phone for the initial swipe, is the hardest bit. And it's not that hard.
If you download the LibreLink app, it is easy to set up.
