The dietician told us that baby's snacks should be 10-15g of carbs which has never seemed to cause a problem before however she's now on smaller doses and her usual cereal bar 15g carb snack sent her from 4.8 to 15.8! It had come back down to within normal by lunch time though. Is that right? If I hadn't checked so soon after I would never have known how high it sent her, the nurses said to do only before and 2hrs after meals, bedtime and night checks but I've been doing more recently as she kept going hypo.

I thought that was the point of a 10-15g carb snack? She will hypo sometimes if it's late but I thought that was the point 😱

The levemir has been halved in the past two days...

No one explained to me what the numbers are supposed to be like in relation to the levemir, all her doses are constantly changing

Most will suggest to get the basal right first, otherwise you chase your tail with the bolus. This link says when it's getting better, the midnight number and the 4am number will be similar. Likewise if she's unwell and misses a meal, her BG will still be ok

Did you ask the nurse about diluted insulin, because of the small doses?

You have enough on your plate for now, but later, splitting basal insulin recommended for better control

I looked into the diluted insulin but see you can't use it in the pens, I'd have to use syringes and it'd hard enough injecting her with the pen right now, she creates a right fuss.
