Relationship to Diabetes
Hello,

My 88 year old Mum is borderline diabetic. She already follows a low salt diet as she has high blood pressure, and she has very limited mobility. Although I can find lots of recipe ideas, she's not able to prepare them, so can anyone suggest convenient snacks? She currently eats far too many Mr Kipling cakes and all kinds of biscuits and it's really finding easy substitutes for these that would help. MANY THANKS! Heather

Welcome to the forum, heathermartindye. Is your mother living alone? Are you seeking snacks instead of meals, or between meals?

At 88 she should be enjoying what she eats and not restricted by a diabetic diet, especially as she isn't diabetic.
Obviously avoid things likes crisps because of the high salt content (I presume she is on medication for the high blood pressure) and bars of chocolate.
I'm 67 and am getting less concerned about some of the things I eat that are supposed to be bad for me.

I adore Seafood. Very little carbs etc & suppose to be good for your brain. Not fish in batter etc but mussels, prawns, crab etc 😉
