My brealfast ratio at around 7.30 is 6gms to 1u, my lunch between 12 pm amd 1pm is 14gms to 1u, my dinner at around 6pm is 9gms to 1u.

would it be a reasonable assumption that at around 10am by ratio would likely be 10gms to 1u?

I need a starting point to work out what my snack ratio in the morning could be.
 
That seems reasonable. Start with a small snack .... maybe something that is just 10g carbs so that you can't go too far wrong and see how you get on and if that works OK, then try 15 or 20g next time. The only way you will know is to try it and see.

@gillrogers with such varying insulin to carb ratios, it looks to me (but not as a doctor) that you are dealling with varying basal requirements by adjusting your bolus. For example, your breakfast ratio is high due to a morning liver dump and your lunchtime ratio is low as you are running around.
This is the classic scenario for qualifying for an insulin pump as it allows us to adjust our basal. I found that a pump required a new way of thinking about my dosing - it was like going back to Diabetes School. However, it has been fantastic now I have got my head around it.
Is it worth talking to your DSN about the possibility of having a pump?
 
I agree with @helli that you would likely benefit from a pump but wonder if, in the meantime, it might be worth changing how you view your morning ratio. I just use a standard 1:10 ratio (ratios are normally expressed as the insulin first), but I add a couple of units to my morning dose to deal with FOTF. I don't see this as part of my ratio because I need it even if I don't eat breakfast, so it is more a correction in advance, and my ratio stays near enough 1:10 which makes life simple in my opinion.
 
I find what works best at breakfast is something low-carb but high protein (eg. 1 egg omelette with sausage) to start with, along with something high-carb (yoghurt with nuts and fruit) which I can eat slowly (if/as needed) while keeping an eye on my CGM. I also keep orange juice on hand if I need extra. Each morning is different for me so I’ve learned to play it by ear rather than adhering to a strict regimen.

Let us know how you get on. As @littlevoice359 suggests, my need for snack boluses (or lack therof) seems to change with the weather! So much so that I generally nibble on nuts or seeds that don’t seem to hit the ‘bolus requiring’ carb level.

Hopefully your diabetes will be a little more reliable and sensible than mine 🙂
