I used to be a big smoothie drinker, in particular ones involving bananas. However, online there is completely conflicting advice as to whether bananas are safe for a T2. Also in the past I have read that fruit juice and smoothies in general are bad.

If anyone has any smoothie tips, please let me know.

Many people find smoothies affect their blood glucose more than you would imagine from the individual ingredients but others seem to cope with them OK. Bananas are usually added for the texture but a a high carb fruit are not such a good idea. Have a look for keto or low carb smoothies to see if anything there takes your fancy and then test if it is OK for You.
Not a fan of them myself. Some people add avocado to give the texture.

Do you have a BG meter @diatribe ?

I think the reason for the confusing and conflicting information you have found online is that people can react very differently to the same foods, so bananas will be fine for some people, but a BG disaster for others!

If you have a BG meter, take a reading before your smoothie, then again 1hr and 2hrs later (you might see a big rise at 1hr which drops back by 2hrs).

If you see more than a 2-3mmol/L rise, experiment with changing the smoothie ingredients to see if you can find one with less of a BG bump 🙂
