Smartwatch

I treated myself to the pixel smartwatch with the money I've earned from covering my coworker's sick leave. Been playing with it all afternoon. Of course the first thing I did was to get my BG as a complication on the face using Glucodatahandler :D
I find it mildly annoying having to unlock and open the Libre app to see my levels, so this is great. I didn't set it up until after getting home from work, which is why it's not showing many steps 😉

That's super handy @Lisa65 and what a lovely treat to yourself! :star:

I really don't understand how this works, how can it tell your blood glucose from skin only contact.
Have you found it comparative to you BG monitor

Which watch do you have @Lisa65 ? Apple or Android? I may be able to help...

They are talking about getting the readings from their CGM sensor to be displayed on their smart watch. Not those smart watches which falsely advertise being able to read your BG levels.

There is no watch that can read your blood glucose through your skin, although there are plenty about that claim to. The only way it can work is if you can link it up to either a Dexcom or Libre sensor with some clever software, the OP mentions Libre so presumably that is what they have done. My daughter has an Apple Watch linked to her Dexcom so that she can see her BG on there whenever she wants.
Edit: @rebrascora types faster than I do!

Goodness! You must be really slow then!

Interestingly, I’ve figured out how to do away with my phone if need be using the Juggluco app on the galaxy watch so it takes readings straight off the sensor. (Which can be transferred back to the phone with the watch picking up from that?)

I want to try that, but does the Libre app still work if you use juggluco with the sensor? I got juggluco installed on my phone, but then my sensor stopped working with librelink, and I had to reinstall it.
My current sensor is due to run out in three days, so I might have a quick play around on the last day.

The Libre app works side by side with Jugg. But if I tranfer to my watch & out of range or phone off? I need to scan & back fill the data with librelink when using the phone. You should get 8 hours of data off the sensor with a scan. I always start a new sensor with librelink first then juggluco. I’ll tag in @Bruce Stephens who uses a Pixle watch.

As @Satan’s little helper says, works fine. Start the sensor with LibreLink and then you can also scan it with Juggluco, and both get updated over Bluetooth. I've never tried using the watch without the phone. I can imagine that being convenient for some people, but (being a man) I have usable pockets so even when dancing I stick my phone in my back pocket.

To be fair with my lifestyle Bruce. I’d hide my phone out of sight with a work in a pocket too. “no phone policy” (in some places. Like working in a women’s prison.) and glance the watch. But I thought I’d try out what I’d read can be done with Juggluco. It can work for me If I had to. Maybe if the phone dies or a bit of beach activity or swimming? My watch is claimed to be waterproof to a certain depth. 🙂 Always appreciate your input. Edit for anyone who happens to be a nurse. I’ve seen attachments to turn these smart watches into a classic nurse fob too. (I don’t nurse. But have tripped over an adaption for smart watches in the past sourcing a new strap?)

Yeah I almost always have my phone on me, but it would be nice to have the option. Jug doesn't show up in the play store when I search using the watch though, so I might have to sideload it (need to find out how to do that)

That's odd. It appears when I search on my phone (for the watch). Maybe it requires that you have it installed on the phone too or something?

In the play store it will (or should) tell you it’s installed on your phone & in my case also on my Galaxy watch 4. My watch is linked by WiFi to the router. Which tends to make watch stuff install faster? (I turn WiFi off on the watch after, to prolong battery life.) you should see Juggluco complications when setting up watch faces on the phone? With mine there is a choice of 3, a BG, an arrow & a BG with arrow. (Not all watch faces allow it though.) Hit the complication & it pulls up a watch version of juggluco. Which is where I can set up the sensor straight to watch. By hijacking the BT.

Loving this thread! You are all living in the FUTURE. No wonder 2025 sounds so much like something from a Sci Fi film.

Plus you’ve all given me a chuckle be reminding me of this:

“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”
