Hello all

Does anyone know if the Samsung watch fe works with the libre link app?

My son is newly diagnosed (I also have type 1) His phone alerted him in school that his bloods were low. He is also autistic so struggles with some social skills and took the decision to turn his phone off as he didn't like the attention given to him due to his phone alarm.

Due to the above I am exploring the possibility of buying him a watch so that he could use that discreetly to monitor his blood. He currently has an android based phone so an apple watch is somewhat out the question.

I do believe the galaxy watched from 4 onwards are compatible but was just wandering if the Samsung FE watches will work as they are a bit cheaper and in all honesty that would be the only thing he would use the watch for.

Thank you in advance for any help

Hi @scootey - I have a Galaxy Watch 4 which works perfectly with Juggulco on my phone - I use the G-Watch Wear app to link the two so my BG and graph displays on my watch:

1733251231616.jpegThe newer Galaxy Watches (certainly the latest one, regardless of whether they are FE or not) only work with GlucoDataHandler app I believe - Galaxy Watch 4 though can be picked up very cheaply in comparison with the newer ones (especially with "Black Friday" week on Amazon) and in conjunction with Juggluco (https://www.juggluco.nl/Juggluco/index.html - it's not in the Play Store) and G-Watch Wear (which is in the Play Store!) it works perfectly for me - the only downside is the battery life on the watch (ideally needs to be charged daily) - For loads more options and helpful information though, join the "Libre Geeks" Facebook Group and I'm sure you will get to the right outcome

Hello @scootey . Welcome to the website. Like @mashedupmatt i use the same watch. A galaxy watch 4. Great connection with the Android phone for me. Would also agree with Matt on the battery life. Could be charged over night to easily cover a school day. I use mine at work, saves pulling the phone? Are you also awair of “Librelinkup?” A follower app for a carer, so you can follow your son’s Libre readings in realtime. (For piece of mind.)

Has he tried switching the phone to vibrate mode then no one else hears the alarm? The watch would make a noise for alarms (or mine does) unless he switches that to vibrate mode (which I do)

Hi @scootey
I use the Gluroo app on my phone which connects to the watch; also Galaxy watch 4, but assume the FE variants would work fine with Gluroo (check out gluroo.com); I believe they run Wear OS too. Connects well with Libre link-up. The watchface is similar to the G-Watch wear app mashedupmatt talked about above. I think it's good having the mini graph on the watch face 🙂 You can also access the data with the web app which means you can keep an eye on each other's data.
There is a "Gluroo Diabetes Logger User Community" group on FaceBook.

Hi @scootey I use GlucoDataHandler on my phone and have the same app on my Samsung Watch6
GlucoDataHandler is available in the Google playstore and connects into LibraLinkUp
on the watch I’ve just got a stock watch face that came in the watch and the current BG set up as a complication, I’ve tried a few other apps but found this (for me) simple to set up

Hello, this looks pretty good? Just been looking this app up. Am I right in thinking GDH “hijacks” what gets sent to the follower app LibreLinkUp from the Libre app, Then to the watch from the phone. Does this not need an either a data connection or WiFi internet hookup to do this? (In essence sending the values from the phone to the follower on the same device, before Bluetoothing to the watch?)

Hi @Satan’s little helper
before I had GDH set up to LibraLink Up I had tried it through Juggluco but I found that a little to technical for me

TBH if it was completed I wouldn’t have managed it

Basically just download both LibraLinkUp to the same phone you have the LibraLink app running on
then just log into both apps using your Abbott login
then download GDH
I did it to both the phone and the watch (GDH downloads from the Google PlayStore)

obviously your watch connection between your smartwatch will usually be Bluetooth but connects between the 2 devices by whatever connection you use

I’ve now disabled the alerts for the High&Low’s in the LibraLink App
as I quite like the alerts that GDH have

GDH has low as well as extreme low, and high as well as extremely high
Plus falling fast and falling low alerts which you can either use or disable to suit

I like that within GDH the alerts are fully customisable in both the tones & vibration

so now if I get a nighttime alert
the vibration of my watch which I’ve set to quite intense always wakes me (although if it didn’t I’ve got good nighttime hypo awareness)

I’ve seen the app on Google play. (Never heard of it before.) looks fantastic. I have low & extreme low settings on my app sending to watch. First is the warning shot over the bows? Always good to see what other options are out there. 🙂 This is an old photo. But it is possible to get protectors for these watches, if a bit accident prone? (Had to replace a torn strap too.)

I got a screen protector off Amazon, it looked ok as clipped over the whole watch
but it wasn’t of decent quality and condensation soon seemed to get trapped behind the screen cover
and I got a refund
but yes, a screen protector is definitely a good idea

I’ve read reviews where people said the same? Someone mentioned getting caught in rain & water crept in. Someone else at a gym? I’ve not (so far.) had the issue with mine. Some are made of the same stuff phone screen protectors are which can shatter but do protect the screen. Where mine is more a “gel case” all over. Certainly no issue with the touch screen. I work in a dusty environment & although I’ve needed to clean the strap & edges that are exposed with the Gapless strap. No real issue where it’s covered when removing the protector for better acess?

Just found a link. (2 in a pack.) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B7JT3SYT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
