Hi I have been using smart pens for a few months now.
Does anyone else using these pens get a lot of error readings. I know I have injected correctly but I then doubt myself due to pen reading Error. I am not sure why this happens. These pens are meant to take the anxiety out of injecting but it seems I am more anxious when using the smart pens!

Are you using the Novopen Echo Plus? I’ve been using these for a few months, and have never had an error reading, I didn’t know it was possible, (goes off to read instruction book). Ah, it says, if the error message persists, contact the manufacturer to get a new pen, so maybe they aren’t working properly and that’s what you need to do.

I use the Echo 6 for both long acting and quick acting insulin. I have been type 1 for 30+ years and for the past six months been using the Libre2 with these pens

I've only seen one error. (The pen didn't record that dose, though it did record the time.)

I suggest if you're seeing lots that might indicate a faulty pen, so report it and see what they say?
I thought maybe a fault but it happens on different pens randomly

I have been using a novopen 6 for a few months now and never had an error message in relation to the dosage and time injected but trying to scan the pen with the libre app can be a pain.
When I used the novopen 5 after a while it would stop showing and I was told this was the irreplaceable battery and so I had to get a new one, seems wasteful but hey we do live in a throw away society

I think they want to make them reasonably safe against moisture, and the ~5 year lifetime is likely a good lifetime for the physical mechanism (the pens won't last forever even ignoring the battery). Not to mention I imagine they anticipate a Novopen 7 and Novopen Echo Plus Plus (or something) which they'd like to sell.

Yeah very true I don't think I've ever had a pen that's lasted the full 5 years maybe I'm a bit too hard on them
