After Carly had her 1st fit, it was after she ate some pasta so I checked her again after she had some pasta 2 nights ago and an hour later she went 2.1 so it is def the pasta that is very slow for her so I wonder how soon after pasta would you inject, and is there any other slow released carbs food I should watch out for?

Does she eat white or brown pasta? Brown pasta would obviously be slower release so maybe she would be better with white?

Yep pasta causes big issues for some people. It is slow releasing so often misses the spike of the insulin. I have heard of people giving a small amount with their food, and the rest of the insulin a few hours later (would need to experiment when the best time for this was).

Oh, ok. I must be a bit unusual as I find I spike with white pasta so have started eating brown!

I found that as well as pasta, brown or white, potatoes baked, boiled, roasted or mashed gave me very high spikes after 4-6 hours.Breads a bit dodgy too! everyone seems different, so just keep testing as the wise ones say.

I think with pasta, it's more the way it's cooked and presented that alters the GI rather than white or brown. Wholewheat pasta is the best but if you serve it with protein, cook it 'al dente' (short cooking time so it's still firm) and/or use large pasta shapes, then it will be very low GI.

I find it goes on and on and on, which is good if you're planning a busy afternoon but not so good if you want to sit around all day.

I'd go with Shiv's suggestion and split the bolus, with the first just after the meal and the 2nd maybe after an hour or two.🙂

It's annoying because I love pasta and could live on it but with 5 injections a day already, it would become a bit excessive ! 🙄
