Hi

I have always followed the SW diet over the years and very successfully too! Having recently been diagnosed as Prediabetic, I have successfully lost a stone and a half since May following the SW principles, BUT not green days unless low GI (ie have severely limited refined white flour products such as white rice, bread, pasta etc, swopping to wholegrain instead). SW says you can eat as much rice, pasta, potatoes as you like on green days, but I would imagine this could be difficult for someone with diabetes. I have therefore mostly followed red days with unlimited white meat, fish etc but limited red meat. As most of the advice on this site states, you need to test to see which foods spike your BG (fruit a good example as this is unlimited with the SW diet). A typical day for me is porridge with blueberries (porridge does not spike my BG but does with some), scrambled eggs and smoked salmon plus salad for lunch and meat or fish with unlimited veg (not sweetcorn, peas etc) plus a small portion of new potatoes or wholewheat pasta. Dessert would be Muller light yogurt with berry fruits plus a nectarine or other piece of fruit for a snack. This seems to work well for me. You need to eat according to what does/does not spike your own BG. Good luck with the diet - I've another 2 or so stone to go!! 🙂Katie PS. Have e mailed you separately too, Sal.

i have been doing SW since dx in may and lost 2 stone, i would advice to test before eating to find out what you can eat.

i like the green days but have to watch the carbs a little,

for instance, chips done in the actifry, with beans and 2 eggs, can raise my BS a little too hight for me..but if i just have a spoon of beans , i'm ok,
i have 2 weetabix or all bran for breakfast, for lunch.. salad, with chicken or with a baked sweet potatoe depending if i'm doing green or red days,

snacks are mullerlight yogurts, a little fruit, SW hi fi bars are great!! as no effect on my bs, and they are filling and sweet

Hi Eat2live,

How do you get on with your actifry? as thinking about getting one.

Sal x

i got mine of amazon, as it was the cheapest at the time at ?123, but at comet they are ?109!!!, not sure if its just for the bank holiday tho, give them a ring and see when the offer ends...they are fantastic, also SW quiches....so easy and so tasty!!

I have tried slimming world , but because of its red and green days ,i was having to do all green days , as i leak protein from my kidneys and was told to go mad on protein , so red days were out for me and not bored on all green days :(:(

Slimming World is fab....the most convenient, easy and simple eating plan that I've ever done! I started last August and have lost over 6 stone. I don't do red and green days but stick to extra easy. It really works and you can low carb if you prefer. Would def recommend it without hesitation.

wow Alison...6 stone!!! well done you!!, i dont understand the extra easy, i know on it you have 1a and 1b...its the rest of it i dont get...xx
