She's a singer, businesswoman and philanthropist ? but most importantly, Chaka Khan's name makes for an irresistible rap, as Melle Mel demonstrated on her Prince-written 1984 hit "I Feel For You."
In fact, it's hard not to hear his voice ( Chakachakachaka khan) in your head while speaking to the peripatetic singer, who sat still briefly for a phone chat last week.
"I've been on the road for two months, since September," Khan says. "I started out in Northern Europe, then Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, the whole lot. From there I did (producer) David Foster's revue ("Hitman"); we were in the Far East for another month, almost. I am knackered!"
