I’ve been having injections in my left eye and had my 4th yesterday.

The worst side effect I got which I was told was normal was seeing a large black dot for about 24 hours after.

This happened with the first 2 then the 3rd injection nothing.

I’m worried because this 4th one has caused like black lines that move and funny shape outlines.

Do I wait another 24 hours or try and speak to someone now?

Eye casualty isn’t open Saturday afternoon or Sundays.

Try ringing 111 who may be able to help. Otherwise casualty. I had that one day for no reason really except it transpired I had become dehydrated. It went after a few hours, but when I saw the optician the following day he thought it may have been the start of a detached retina. He referred me to the hospital. It took a few days but was OK in the end.

Im going to contact the ophthalmology ward I had it done on tomorrow morning and see what they say.

Some info online says the floaters should go after 48 hours and some say can stay up to to 2 weeks so it’s confusing.

My dad has been having injections every 2 months for the past 3 years at least, and no 2 times are the same. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes he can't see out of it for the rest of the day, sometimes he has black lines and sometimes feels absolutely nothing and his eyesight is fine. That said, he's always been better within 48 hours.

I should phone 111 to check it out, or the ward tomorrow if 111 can't help...your eyesight is too precious to risk. Best of luck

Hope you can get some reassurance tomorrow @MarkGeordie

Must be very worrying for you :(

I actually tried the ward and a lovely nurse spoke to me. She went and got the doctor on the ward and she said if I had concerns to go to eye casualty tomorrow morning. So I’m going to head over there.

I was seen pretty quickly in eye casualty. The doctor I spoke to couldn’t see anything wrong but she couldn’t give me an explanation of the floaters and why they hadn’t disappeared like the others after my other injections.

All I got was “they should disappear and if not you will learn to live with them”.

I’m not fully convinced she knew what she was talking about.
